Accident on 90 Today: Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 90 Today

Accident on 90 Today Interstate 90 (I-90), Hoffman Estates, Ill. — A multi-vehicle crash early today on I-90 in the northwest suburbs of Chicago has left at least two people injured and forced the closure of westbound lanes, Illinois State Police and local media reported.

According to officials, the collision occurred around 1:56 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Barrington Road on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway. A semi-truck struck a car that had already been involved in a prior wreck, causing the truck to roll onto its side and push the smaller vehicle into an emergency medical technician (EMT) who was outside tending to the earlier crash.

The semi-truck driver and the EMT were both taken to area hospitals with injuries. At this time, the severity of their injuries has not been released. Police also said one driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in connection with the crash.

All westbound lanes of I-90 remained closed for several hours as crews worked at the scene, investigated the crash, and cleared wreckage. Traffic was being diverted to local routes while authorities managed the closure.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision and have urged motorists with dashcam footage or additional information to come forward.
